Re: Things to do in Lanzarote?
Strange how different people like and dislike somewhere.

I loved Timanfya (sp?) as who doesn't like volcanoes? The whole park is great in an apocalyptic lunar landscape kind of way.

César Manrique (his stuff is all over Lanzarote) is wildly overrated in my opinion which is why not many people have heard of him outside the Canaries.

We went years ago and the main things I remember about the place was that you find some lovely places if you drive around a bit, some old German bloke walking past us on a windy beach with a hat, backpack, boots and fuck all else on (that seems to have burnt itself into my memory somehow) and some very nice food in a local bar where a load of ordinary Spanish blokes watched football.

I also remember waiting for the bus back to the airport and clocking a Cockney in a Liverpool shirt who rolled his eyes and said 'I'm never coming back here again. Shit, isn't it'? Me and my missus had had a really nice break and so I asked him what he'd done in the week he was there and it turned out he'd sat around the hotel pool on the piss and hardly been out.

It's a classic clique but it's never been truer when it comes to the Canaries, 'if you're looking for a nice holiday you'll have one and if you're looking for a shit holiday you'll have one'.

Personally, I wish I was going. I love a week in the sun, especially at this time of year.

Jameos del Agua and Cuevas Verde can be done at the same time. If you go to Playa Blamca the food is really good in Tipico Canario on the front

Definitely hire a car. Piss of pisss driving around the whole island.

César Manrique's gaffe definitely worth a visit. Have dinner in the restaurant there.

Timanfaya - Not really worth it in my opinion. Tourist trap hell when all the coaches get there.

Teguise - Market only on a Sunday, Well worth going but get there early. Great places to have lunch there.

Been to Lanzarote 7 times now. Always stay in a little village called Conil. My mate owns a villa there. Great place

The Inn Place - Puerto del Carmen old town.

Home of the Lanzarote Hammers. Great people.

West Ham owners. WH stuff everywhere. Have all your sporting requirements looked after. Will definitely have F1.

I watched yids at home & palace away in there in August.

César Manrique designed quite a few things on the island - his underground house built inside lava bubbles is well worth a visit.

Re: Things to do in Lanzarote?
Loads to do and see if you like site seeing.
Hire a car - really easy to get about with a good road system on the island.
I think Costa Teguise has a West Ham bar if memory serves...but i might be confusing this with some other island....

Anyway, not exactly Judith Charmers but that's my two penneth.

You could try a trip to Timanfaya. The best beach is Playa Famara, there's not much there but the scenery's good

Go swimming. Take with you a packet of those cocktail sticks that have little national flags on them.

When a turd bobs by, determine it's nationality and insert a cocktail stick depicting the appropriate country.

This will help everybody determine which country really has the biggest shit.

Re: Things to do in Lanzarote?
Decent fishing there if thats your thing.

If not, take a Newcastle or Liverpool shirt and youll blend right in with the rest in the "local" bars drinking English ale and filloing up on Sausage sarnies.
